Snow & Weather Report
Update: Wednesday, January 28, 2026, 6:12 a.m.
Good morning from Legendary Laurel Mountain. It’s a brisk day on the hill that will handsomely reward those who come prepared. Layer up and lock in with great conditions and quiet weather. The slopes are open from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. today.
Packed powder is skiing well across open terrain with excellent overall coverage and a smooth ride from top to bottom. Some gradual ski-off may emerge in high-use areas as the day progresses, leading to fast and firm patches. Keep an eye on Lift & Terrain status for the latest access information and updates.
It’s currently -1° on the mountain with mostly cloudy skies and breezy west winds. Snow develops this afternoon with light accumulations likely staying under an inch. A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect through 11 a.m. today, with a second advisory running from 7 p.m. tonight through 11 a.m. Thursday. Wind chills during these periods may drop into the 10 to 20 below zero range.Â
Snow showers will taper off Thursday morning, followed by dry weather Thursday night through Friday with sunshine and calm conditions. Highs will be in the low teens this weekend with mostly cloudy skies and low-end chances for passing snow showers Saturday into Sunday and Monday. Looking farther out, temps will moderate into the upper teens and low 20s next week with snow chances mid to late week. Then another strong push of colder air is signaled for the end of next week.
These low temps can mean great conditions, but be sure to be prepared today. Layer up well, cover any exposed skin, stay hydrated and don't be shy about taking breaks inside to warm up.
The Nordic and snowmobile trail systems are both in excellent shape today with outstanding conditions and deep coverage across the board. Upper Nordic trails are groomed and set track. Snowmobile trails are groomed with an 8-10" base.Â
We'll see you out there.
